What is connecting, and what is not

Xero is the accounting connection we are building first; QuickBooks, MYOB and FASHN remain planned. If a connection is not listed here, we do not have it.

Accounting and finance

Accounting belongs in the accounting platform. These connections hand approved product and costing information across so your studio does not re-key it — and stop there.

Xero

Xero stays the system of record for accounting. designroom.express is not trying to become an accounting package — the point of the connection is that approved product and costing information reaches Xero, rather than being copied across by hand.

  • Accounting connection between approved product and costing information and Xero, where Xero supports it
  • Costing and margin results available in the workspace remain the source your studio reviews before anything is sent
  • Team and payroll information is sent in the format Xero expects, where Xero supports it
  • No invoice, ledger, tax or payment functions are being added to designroom.express

The first accounting connection we are building. We will confirm the supported direction and fields before it is switched on.

QuickBooks

Planned

QuickBooks Online is a second accounting destination for studios that run their books there. The intended direction is the same as Xero: approved product and costing information moves into the accounting platform, which remains the system of record.

  • Planned connection for studios whose accounting runs in QuickBooks Online
  • Accounting remains in QuickBooks — designroom.express will not add ledger, invoice or payment features

Status: Planned. Not available today.

MYOB

Planned

MYOB is the third accounting platform on the roadmap, for studios in the markets where MYOB is the established choice. As with the other accounting connections, the intention is to hand approved costing information across, and to keep accounting in MYOB.

  • Planned connection for studios running their books in MYOB
  • Accounting remains in MYOB — no finance modules are being built into designroom.express

Status: Planned. Not available today.

Fashion visualisation

Visualisation and content sit alongside the garment, not inside the accounting system. These connections are about working with the visual side of a style.

FASHN

Planned

FASHN is a fashion visualisation and content platform, not an accounting or business system. A future connection would let a studio move between the garment itself and the visualisation work that surrounds it, instead of keeping two unrelated libraries.

  • Planned fashion-visualisation and content connection
  • Intended to sit alongside the visual Style workspace, not to replace it

Status: Planned. Not available today.

File formats & API

Working with the files you already have

Import and export are where most studios feel a tool joining their workflow. These are the formats designroom.express reads and writes today.

Import

  • DXF — 2D pattern geometry imported into the private Pattern and Block library
  • Photographs — paper patterns captured against a PatternScan Digital Import Mat through PatternScan
  • Images — sketches, reference imagery, fabric and trim photographs attached to the Style record

Export

  • SVG — pattern geometry for production packs
  • DXF — plain, AAMA-style and ASTM-style variants in the production pack
  • PDF — print-ready Tech Packs, in full-scale, tiled or preview form
  • CSV — measurements and piece measurements, alongside a manifest and validation report

REST API and webhooks

A public REST API and outbound webhooks are on the roadmap. They are planned, not available today, and we would rather say so plainly than list endpoints that do not yet exist.

Until the API is live, the supported way to move information between designroom.express and another system is the export formats above — the same files that go into a production pack are the ones you can hand to a supplier or another tool.

If your studio has a specific integration need, tell us what it is. Integration requests shape the order of work.

Need a connection that is not here yet?

Tell us which platform you run and what you need to move between it and the workspace. We are building this list with the studios who will use it.
